INSCRIPTION:
Erected by the very Revd. John Kirwan PP.VF. New Ross to the memory of his father Dermot Kirwan of Kilpipe who died 24th of January 1824,of his mother Sarah daughter of John Foley of Knickeen near Kilenure, Co.Wicklow ,and Bridget Doyle of Ballykeady ,Co.Carlow died 1851, of his grandfather Timothy Kirwan who died 1803 and his great grandfather Dermot Kirwan died 1760,and his great great grandfather Denis Kirwan of Kilpipe who died 1707, of his uncle Dan Kirwan killed at the battle of Vinegar Hill leading the men of Wicklow,of his uncle Laurence Kirwan shot as a rebel in 1798, of his uncle Denis transported as a rebel and afterwards killed in the service of France, of his brother Timothy Kirwan of Kilpipe who died 1866, and Dan who died at New York 1884. Laurence parish priest of Piercestown and dean of Ferns died 1880, of his sisters,Mary who died 1824 and Bridget who died 1870.
