About North Wexford Historical Society

The North Wexford Historical Society was founded in 2011 by a group of local history enthusiasts who recognised the need for such a society due to the huge interest in history in the area. The launch of the very highly regarded book” Kilnahue Churchyard, Gorey,” by Gorey Churchyard Heritage Group in 2011, under the supervision of Archaeologist, Gerry Mullins, was the catalyst for the foundation of the society. Almost all of those involved with this book went onto become founder members of NWHS. Within a short period of its foundation membership grew to over hundred members and has remained constantly over the one hundred mark.
